RE: Of Spaceport Markets

He grimaced at the prospect of a month long trip. Dante tended to be an impatient man wanting to do things twenty-four seven. "Why did you come so out-of-the-way to set up a shop here, surely there is a much closer place from where you live." Dante inquires. He kicks a pebble and stirss up a small cloud of dust.

RE: Of Spaceport Markets

The way Raelan answered betrayed a potential depth in him that Lao-tzu at first hadn't perceived.  When given time, the master suspected, Raelan would take it and cultivate it into something nice.  A month-long voyage would be a good experience, even though the beginning could be rocky.

Dante was another matter entirely.  The man was made of nothing but action.  Forced into a pilgrimage by foot, he would not respond well and may, in his idleness, make the trip unpleasant for his travel companions.  Lao-tzu did suspect that the slow and regular pace of walking, finding food and shelter, meeting people, and moving on would do Dante a lot of good in the end.

Lao-tzu answered Raelan first, "I have no vehicle of transportation myself.  There are land-cars and aircraft available for rent should there be a need, but I don't see a problem with using your craft."

To Dante, he said, "This is Micc's largest spaceport.  I find the clientele here at the market is the most varied and interesting.  Many off-worlders come through with the express purpose of buying souvenirs, and I enjoy serving them and sharing their tales of travel."

He added, "You both appear to be under the impression that a journey of one month would be tedious and a postponement of that which is important in your lives. This is not intended as a protest, for you see I have already turned toward the docking wing of the port, but I can assure you that in my experience such a journey is quite eventful. I'm curious, what would be postponed that should not be?"

Raelan laughed. "For me you will understand when you see the interior of my transport. I have many things burning in my head that yearn to be realized outside of it. I cannot properly make them wait yet. It doesn't seem polite."

He chuckled again at the not too unrealistic thought of all of his inventions clamoring in his head, and them controlling him instead of the other way around. He stepped up beside Lao-Tsu, subtly beginning to guide to where his ship was parked.

"As for me my reason is quite simple." he looked towards Lao-tzu "I wish to ge tback to business my pockets are almost empty and people aren't going to "end" themselves, if that was true I'd be out of a job". Dante cracked his knuckles "But, I always have time for tea with friends" he grinned a bit.

The old man smiled and nodded.  "Very good.  I look forward to seeing your starship, Raelan. It has been some time since I last had the opportunity to board one."

A couple minutes later the trio entered the spacedocks.  Vaguely reminiscent of airport terminals, this area consisted of long, mostly empty hallways that spidered out to the open-air spaceship landing zones.  The designers had constructed a space-minimizing fractal design that accommodated all sizes of ships and allowed the docking area to grow as needed.  The downside of this design became apparent when it turned out to be impossible to navigate without aid.

Fortunately, a system of magical marks and dowsing rods was instituted to remedy the situation.  One simply took a rod and followed its tug and glow until you arrived at your desired destination. Off-worlders would sometimes have difficulties believing in the artifact enough for it to work, so local kids made it their business to learn the place and guide skeptical tourists.

Raelan, however believed quite well in the rod, smiling politely he told the local boys, no thank you, and guided the two to his unimpressive, but well maintained spacehawk, painted across both sides with a mural depicting a winged dragon in flight. He unlocked the passenger door, then paused.

"need to make sure there aren't going to be any accidental magical reactions." He explained, before hitting both Lao-Tsu, and Dante with a magical detection sphere, he didn't see any magic that would conflict, but he didn't manage to suppress a giggle at dante's shirt turning an amazing sort of tie die, with a blob of bright red right where Dante had cut it to test the enchantment. He then ducked inside "come on in when you're ready, I'll make some space for you."

The inside of the ship, while mostly unmodified had blueprints, and papers all over the place, seemingly categorized into groups by location, and a series of three colors marking the outside of each roll. Location being the various beds and furniture available, mechanical pieces in various states of complete lay scattered in an organization similar to, but separate from the blueprints, in fact the only open piece of furniture happened to be the work table itself, with one solitary device, and what was most likely its blueprint and notes. The device looked like a mostly complete work, even if it was obviously part of something else. The table itself resonated energy like something often involved in the use of magic, most likely enchanting his work.

Raelan hastily cleared the contents of two seats, placing them into other piles whose contents they fit most, he liked to keep the system adaptable, so that he knew where stuff was even if he had company.

RE: Of Spaceport Markets

(Pardon me, Dante, for jumping ahead of ya)

When Raelan's magic detection sphere washed over Lao-tzu, he showed up as a faint glow with a deep color of... something close to violet.  This seemed to please him, and Dante's tie-dye actually brought forth a hearty chuckle.  The old master himself didn't carry any magical objects per se, but seemed to infuse his personal effects with the same strange hue that permeated his being.

After Raelan stepped inside, Lao-tzu turned to Dante and gestured with his hand to the door, "After you, I insist."

The ship itself seemed to be in good shape. Easily recognizeable were the four external engines and a design that was built for artificial gravity.  The inside would be spacious, barring an overly bulky hyperdrive or the like.

The dragon on the side confirmed Raelan's apparent obsession with the mythical animal, and Lao-tzu wondered what lay beneath the quirk. The fact that even his aura was shaped like a dragon would be almost disturbing if it wasn't so interesting.

He grinned a bit when his shirt glowed. "Well...it's definetly not my color" he remarks. Dante steps inside the ship and looks around picking up a few devices and examined them. He put the devices back in exactly the same spot he found them. (sorry for the short post I'm not feeling that great tonight)

('s perfectly fine we'll live, hope you feel better)

Seeing that Dante was settling in, he prepared to pilot the ship by draining all the extra energy from his system, dispersing it into the floor and the pilot seat. when he had his wings and tail it always felt cramped in the pilot seat, like they were being smashed or crimped. His aura essentially returned to a normal fairly talented person's aura. He then awaited Lao-Tsu to enter so he could gesture to the chair with the best view, as Lao was going to be the navigator, while supervising Dante's investigation a smile.

RE: Of Spaceport Markets

[welcome back, Dante! Best wishes on your future health!]

Lao-tzu entered the ship and sat down where directed.  It was a confusing place with Raelan's magical doodles everywhere and high-energy technology everywhere else.  His reaction was to be the rock and stop letting himself be pulled and pushed everywhere all the time, everything would flow around and leave the center unmoved. Instantly the clashing impulses and sensations quieted down and Lao-tzu found himself quite enjoying the opportunity to see the operation of a space-ship, a rare treat for a planetlubber like him.
