RE: Chat Thread Round Three

ha ha ha, that's farther than I know... my knowledge is limited to the areas I've lived in and I only see things getting worse... where do they have busses that run off of methane? That's pretty cool.

I have an environmental mind, but I don't see humans as anything but a cancer to earth, I lived in california for 20 years and only saw snow but rarely, four feet in the area I used to live is astounding, even to my parents who lived there longer.

(as far as the cancer thing if you don't understand or agree, look at how human populations developed as soon as they stopped being nomadic. something that used to act as part of the body goes mad and starts doing something else is a cancer, if it starts killing the whole it's malignant. And the way humans moved and grew in populations looks just like cancer..... At this point, I'm just wondering if earth is going to fix everything on its own by going extreme, or just let it all die.)

scientifically ignorant baboon, quite possibly, I call for leniency stasis ^-^ at the very least it's hilarious. I deal more with concepts and ideas, all the details never make it in, and I will admit, my scope of observation is limited.

Breaking the current topic of the thread, I got bored today and made this.

Super Bonk Bros.

Inspired by a guy wanting to make a version of Super Mario Bros. in which you play as the Scout from Team Fortress 2. He asked me to make sprites, but he hasn't gotten back to me on what exactly he wants, so I made this for myself. Laughing

Terrathel, I admire your restraint.  You're clearly the bigger (internet) man.  Grin

Seriously, though, I'm a big science geek with some experience in computer models and as the chair of a campus environmental group I did a pretty good job of informing myself of the issue. Didn't want to spend a ton of effort fighting for a cause that didn't matter, you know?  Since then, I've kept pretty up-to-date with the scientific advances, and the issue seems pretty clear-cut.  If you still have doubts, we can discuss them more, ahem, amicably.

The snow in SoCal sounds crazy, but on their own these things don't mean much for climate. Climate trends are usually examined on a 30-year basis because then ordinary weather oscillations cancel each other out. This summer, I'm sure there'll be all kinds of "warmest day ever" records broken and attributed to climate change, and I'll be telling those people that they're incorrect in no uncertain terms.

The human population curve is pretty disturbing.  It looks exactly like what happens to a species introduced into a new niche.  But what happens is the population will always reach the system's carrying capacity, at which point it must level off or crash.

Thus far, we have staved off reproductive responsibility and/or disaster by increasing the carrying capacity, but that is unlikely to continue for reasons that could not be more obvious.

Oh, and the methane buses are in quite a few places by now. I live in Uppsala, Sweden. The trains here are nearly all electric, too, unlike most of Europe.

That sprite rocks my socks.

I'm just scared of what happens when he eats a mushroom!

I love the CS engine's skybox.  I made a little mod that gives City 17 in HL2 the BIGGEST striders ever.  They could eat the Citadel Grin
