RE: Look at the inactivity! My gosh!

Oh boy, don't play Gears of War 2 then. The first game was always pretty straight forward, but in Gears of War 2, for about 80% of the game you're in dark caverns that tend to blend together, particularly...

Yeah... That whole NAT setting thing happened to me with Halo 3. I couldn't host and have people join, even after redoing all the ports and everything.
I might have finally figured it out with the help of the internet, but I know it took for freaking ever to do it.

I don't know as if you're too far behind me now. Of course, by tonight you'll probably have beat it. So, I'll be behind.
I keep debating whether I want the help to get past where I am or not. XD

We'll see...

Yeah... All the darkness... is fuuuuun. Happy
It scared me, walking into a couple of the places. The first time I couldn't see 10 ft. in front of me... with tickers everywhere... That was great.

RE: My gosh! Chat thread!

I swear the level design philosophy was to copy Halo 2 and Doom 3.

(Hint: This is not a good thing.)

EDIT: Still... it's worth playing through. It's still fun, the levels are just pretty forgettable so far... I guess I'd have to play through it again. Maybe I'm too judgmental the first time through.

I don't want to scare anybody off that would have otherwise played it. XD

Well, I am back at work now.

Yeah, I would say that it does remind me a bit of Halo 2... And there is way too much underground stuff. However, it could be worse.

I did like some of the dark places though. Even though they made me a tad bit nervous part of the time... it was still kind of awesome.

Anyway... Yeah... back to work.

Anyone here play Fallout 3?

I'm a fan of high rate-of-fire energy weapons and critical hits.  Everything turns into slow-motion cinematic sparkling ash or goo.  Verrry satisfying.

Also nice is the chainsaw knife known simply as the Ripper.  Sawing a mutant's arm off as it is swinging a two-by-four with nails at my head is sweeet.

By now I pretty much know what's going on in the game, but when I first got out of the Vault and tried spending the first night in the ruins of an elementary school it was scary. You see, I was playing a geeky girl with high morals.  The Wasteland made her grow up into a geeky woman with attitude right quick. So when I eventually found a settlement that received nightly visits from a bunch of blood-sucking vandals I decided to help them out.  And when these vandals turned out to be not all bad it turned into an actual moral conundrum. An unusual and excellent situation in a game Smile .

Next character will be Ayn Rand, the icy queen of rational self-interest.  And explosives, muhahahaha.

PANCAKES!

hmm, I liked halo, it was actually the first person shooter that made me consider playing the game category at all. I played some Halo 2, not that much, but I wasn't as impressed, never got to play any halo 3 though.

I wanna find out about that new one, Force Unleashed, if they used a similar physics engine to psy ops, it'll be friggin awesome, otherwise... well I'll probably find out eventually. I played F.E.A.R. on my computer alone at my friend's place in the dark when they were all asleep.... I'm not ordinarily the spooky type, but the game made me really twitchy under those circumstances, I'm not sure how I'd react to not being able to see well... that just sounds annoying unless I REALLY get into the character.

Oh, I liked Halo. It was Halo 2 that had the disappointing and forgettable levels. I'm one of probably three people that actually liked "The Library" in Halo.

Trust me, the darkness is annoying. It's not done to make things tense or unsettling... it's just to make it so you can't see.

WAFFLES

Yeah, I like Halo pretty well. I don't tend to care for the people that play MP on it. They are usually very obnoxious, and love to "hump" everything they kill. Stupid.
Of course, that's the way it is with most MP things...

But the actual game, is fairly nice. Smile

The Force Unleashed, I like quite a bit. It doesn't have a whole lot of replayability, I don't think. It's got nice graphics and awesome physics though.

The only real "choice" in the game, is at the very end. In terms of story.
Though, I would say that it probably has one of the better storylines since the original trillogy. Though, that's not hard to do.

I'd recomend it maybe to rent... If you're a big SW fan, it's worth buying... I think. Smile
Don't hold me to it if you don't like it though. Wink

EDIT: I agree with Stasis. The Library in the orginal Halo was the best thing out of the entire trillogy. The first game was the best, by far. I don't really have a whole lot of complaints with the other two though.

He's right about Gears as well. It's not dark for tense... it can come across that way... but, it's kind of annoying. There are other ways they could have made it more tense. Like the way they did the first one.

FRENCH TOAST

Whoever started that "humping" slag should be killed, and everybody else that still does it should get twenty lashes. Per hour.

Now people do it in Urban Terror, Team Fortress 2, Unreal Tournament, and... you know... every single competitive game in which you can crouch. They could also be mouth-shot.

EDIT: Oh, and I have Fallout 3. However, I feel like I'm "doing it wrong", because I haven't found it nearly as engrossing as most people seem to. Mostly the amount of time it takes to get anywhere has put me off. I probably ought to stop doing Moira's fetch quests: back and forth across the world for peanuts.
