Stasis and myself were recently talking about how there are only two animals that have ever been mentioned as being unique to Daireem (cortus and zorishes).

We need more animals that are unique to Daireem! Come on people! Lets hear some ideas. Smile

Zorish - Cheetah/cougar-like creature. They are fast and silent. Their powerful back legs also allow them to leap great distances. Zorishes have a sort of society of honor. The weak ones are shunned, and when "defeated", they will respect that which did so.
Many people believe that the zorish can not be tamed. As long as you have defeated it in battle, it will honor you. They tend to travel in packs and so are very hard to defeat. Likely your only chance, is to get them alone.
Known to exist in the Deeps of Fierra Mesa, but also found in some areas of Meeriad and Wist.

Cortus - Bat-like creature - Savage and very dangerous. Always seen at night. Travels in swarms. Rend the flesh from anything caught in the darkness of Fierra Mesa's Deeps.

Aurular - Native to Vansid, aurulars are gelatinous blobs, usually ranging from one to approximately three feet across, and with a color ranging from a dull green to a deep blue, that float on the surface of large bodies of water. They can secrete a very acidic substance into the surrounding water, harmful to boats and ships under prolonged exposure, but only do so to eat by externally digesting their prey, or as a defense mechanism when provoked or afraid. They can move by shaping parts of their amorphous bodies into sorts of paddles, but are generally content to float with the tide.

Omegatoad - A single giant toad in the woods of Fierra Mesa. Only one is known to exist; if it dies, it either simply regenerates or any remains grow into a new Omegatoad, in its fully grown state, in a matter of minutes. Its gaze can be felt and is said to be very judgmental.

Nihkabrahn - This is a peaceful creature that can be found on many worlds. It resembles that of a cow but its milk tends to be sweeter. The milk from the nihkabrahn is the base of most of the milkshakes in Daireem.
The Nihkabrahn has been transported to several planets since the begining of Daireem. It is rumored that the Dominion Masters have a whole level of their MDS's dedicated to the feeding and care of nihkabrahn's for their own personal milkshakes.

Tyrid
Native to most of Cerania, these strange creatures somewhat resemble an angelic variant of the gargoyle. Their skin is white and almost seems transparent and they have a feint blue glow. Their face looks something like a tribal mask, it's expressionless mouth scary to some. However, these creatures are mostly harmless attacking only when provoked. The are capable of flight and are often hunted for their fine skin, which is made into clothing. Flocks of Tyrid often provide a natural obstacle for barnstorming pilots.

Traditionally, tribes hunted them for their heads which were then hollowed out and worn as masks.

I like it, but how about have them native to some place besides Meeriad? Meeriad has... pretty much everything already. The rest of the universe needs a little spice. Grin

You have to understand that Meeriad has its own forum and existed for about six years before Daireem started, so there's been a LOT of exposition about it. Many of the things me and Chris are posting in this thread are from the Meeriad RPG. Smile

Another from the old Meeriad files. Smile

Chiknia - Native to the underwater gardens of Meeriad, these small creatures are believed to be the start of the legend of Faeries.
These creatures are small balls of light that float around quite peacefully, giving off a blue light. When viewed from a distance they resemble lightning bugs.
They tend to be leery of humans and will float away from movement. Scientists haven't figured out whether it is because the wind from the movement makes them float away, or if they go by free will.
It is unknown how these creatures came to the gardens. The most logical explination is that the builders of the gardens placed them there.

Chikarta - Same as chiknia, but are very dangerous. They will attack if they are disturbed by your presence. Their body acts as a super conducting heat relay. They are able to melt and shred objects, very easily. Be it wood, steel, or even flesh.
If you do not disturb them, they will float harmlessly through most objects. Though they tend to be mentally unstable, so it is difficult to tell when something will bother them.

They have an unusual fear of Rylians.

Sorry, Meeriad just seemed the right habitat for them.
I'll put them somewhere else....
