The Waiting Game

Jonall sat patiently in his GreyWolf Space fighter, staring through the cockpit at the heavenly lights that taunted him with mysterious shadows that would appear and vanish as his eyes caught focus.

Many time Jonall had experienced theses elusive ghosts, whether they were characters of his mind playing a game of annoyance or such lost souls he had heard in tales that wandered the verse looking for a lonely soul to grab and take with them... he'd rather not know.

Jonall was out here looking for some one, a bounty or even a captive for ransom...
Tape was getting short and he needed to do some repairs on his vessel

Jonall: Computer, any new reading out there? (He whispered)

GreyWolf CPU: Negative, reading still remain the same, Space dust, Galactic gases, Black matter... (The Computer went on).

RE: The Waiting Game

(Mind if I barge in?)

Asmod: Can this bucket not move faster, human?!

The CP3 Vexxer moved with amazing slowness through the emptiness of space. Having just been pulled out of the hole it crash landed in on Wist, it was having some... trouble.

Malcolm: Listen.

He hit the button to enter hyperspace. A loud, repeating thunking began, gradually getting faster. They remained in normal space. He hit the button to shut it down.

Malcolm: Does that answer your question?
Asmod: Perhaps! I only hope that no pirates are scanning us, as we orcs are a popular slave trade.

Asmod remembered mere days ago having killed several pirates, taking their leftover ship, and crashing it into a large, furry creature on Wist. He hoped their friends had not put a bounty on him, though that would be unlikely, considering they were all dead on a remote planet.

Asmod impatiently sat on the human's bed. It creaked as its bolts loosed their hold on the wall under his weight.

RE: The Waiting Game

CPU: Jonall, A small object has been discovered by sensors.
A 76% possibility of a ship though readings of a large life form appear from that area.

Jonall switch the pilot controls to manual and began his approach at low speed, keeping a fingure near the weapons activation switch.

Jonall: Time to make some money. (Chuckled to himself)

RE: The Waiting Game

Malcolm: Ugh.

He was on the verge of smacking the computer screen.

Engell: What is it, human?
Malcolm: The scanner's telling me there are four capital-size ships closing in on us. From all sides.
Engell: I see no such thing outside! Perhaps they are cloaked!
Malcolm: No, the scanner's just shot. It's been giving me slag like this since we left Wist. Look at this, now it's telling me there's a fighter approaching.
Engell: That is a fast fighter!

He laughed as the image on the screen jumped around wildly. Malcolm groaned.

Malcolm: Next thing you know the power's going to go out.
Asmod: In which case we would be truly "screwed."

RE: The Waiting Game

CPU: Jonall, A increased possibility has occurred in the detection of our vessel.

Jonall paused and looked at the scans of the ever closing ship, He had never seen a ship of it's kind before and wandered how much tape he would get for it.

Then a sudden thought of a ransom pooped into his mind,  hostages always bring in good Tape, He smiled coldly.

Jonall: Computer manage power levels for combat but on my command start to charge the hyperdrive.

Jonall increased the Greywolfs thrust towards it's new target, Flicking the weapons switch on he targeted the unknown ship with his twin Ion racks.

Jonall: Computer give me targeting lock for possible points to disable their craft.

CPU: Scanning....

RE: The Waiting Game

Malcolm's gaze was repeatedly drawn to the scanner screen. Something about that fighter just seemed off, compared to the rest of the false positives. A hush seemed to fall over the ship.

Engell: ... Something is the matter, human?

Malcolm continued staring at the screen.

Engell: Is there a threat?

There was a loud beep--for a split second. It stopped.

Engell: What was--

It did it again, sputtering a little bit.

Malcolm: ... Weapons fire.

He peered around outside and saw nothing.

Engell: I suppose that is damaged as well.
Malcolm: Hang on.

He brought the ship about, looking in the general direction of the blip on the scanner. He saw nothing; the blackness of the modified 556A made it almost impossible to see, especially at its current distance. The alarm began beeping incessantly, but there was certainly no weapons fire.

Malcolm: Ugh.

RE: The Waiting Game

((ooc: OK I can fix it Smile edited post))

Jonall: Computer, any luck on establishing a disabling target.
CPU: Positive, the ship has no detectable weapons, several light shots to the engines located in the four corners will stop the shuttle from moving.
Jonall: Good

Jonall takes the Greywolf on an attack vector and increases his small fighters speed, he stares through his tactical HUD and squeezes the trigger letting the unforgiving ION racks rip.
He gives the trigger four full bursts hoping it’s enough to damage but not destroy the alien craft and with a quick swoop of his controls the Greywolf fighter burns around and away from the enemy craft at high speeds.

Jonall: Computer, Open a communication channel to the ship and scan to see if they are disabled.
CPU: Yes Jonall.
Jonall: Computer all so scan to see how many life forms their are on that ship and keep long range scanning for  other ships. I don't want no one taking my prize.

The Greywolf locks on its weapons at the ships and opens a communication channel.

RE: The Waiting Game

(OOC: Okay, I'll delete the unneeded posts now.)

The alarm shuts up.

A volley of ion blasts flies by the canopy. One or two of them hit home. Another volley and several more hit.

The alarm is silent.

Engell: I believe your alarm has incredible skills of precognition!

Asmod gets to the cockpit door just as several more blasts hit the ship. The lights go out. Malcolm can feel the controls automatically fighting to keep the ship straight--one of the engines was out.

Malcolm: Slag.

He throws the throttle all the way down and finally sees their assailant. He turns on communications.

Malcolm: What the heck do you want? I've got no weapons and no cargo.

He grabs his Pulse Rifle from its spot against the wall.

CPU: Jonall, Communications are connected
Malcolm: What the heck do you want? I've got no weapons and no cargo.

Jonall: I want you to follow me to Perrenor, or else I will destroy you vessel.

Jonall keeps his finger on the trigger. He mutes his mic quickly and asks the ships computer.

Jonall: How many life forms on that vessel?

RE: The Waiting Game

Malcolm had shut down the remaining engines entirely while the man was talking.

Malcolm: Two of my engines are out. I can't make it to Perrenor.

It's lie, of course. Only one is damaged, and he can still manage. He turns the mic off and turns to the orcs.

Malcolm: Get near the power plant and stay low. Middle of the hold. If we're lucky the EM field will mask you. He's scanning us by now.

The orcs listen, huddling in the center of the hold, staying low to the floor. Malcolm turns back to the mic and turns it on.

Malcolm: I told you I don't have anything of worth. If you don't mind, let me get a tug out here and be on my way.
