RE: The Waiting Game

Jonall: Computer any other life signs?
CPU: One human and multiple readings unstable and unknown... multiple readings vanished.
Jonall: Hmmm he is hiding something... Maybe a hunt on the ground, Computer can his vessell move?
CPU: The vessel has three functioning engines.

Jonall turns the mic back on

Jonall: Vessel, If it is true what you say then maybe you have enough power to make it to Meeriad?
There I want you to land on the continent of sunder, make no communication with any other vessel or political body except for this vessel and I will inspect your ship for myself.

RE: The Waiting Game

Malcolm: Whatever happens, I'll probably end up dead. I'll try to make it to Meeriad.

He powers up two of the engines, diagonally opposite each other and gives it some thrust. It doesn't take much to send the ship into a roll with this configuration. He uses the RCS thrusters to settle the roll, and gives it more thrust, repeating this process as he gets up to speed, backing off the throttle and letting it ride on its momentum.

Malcolm: You know you could get a transport out here in thirty minutes and back to Meeriad in ten? This is going to take hours.

He can only hope this guy would make such a mistake.

RE: The Waiting Game

Jonall turns the mic off and sets his figher to follow.

Jonall: Computer is it possible to enter hyperdrive and bring the shuttle with us?
CPU: It is possible but highly dangerous, 23% ships may be destroyed in the process.
Jonall: It's a chance I am going to take.

Jonall turns on the mic and opens communication.

Jonall: Vessel I will be opening a rip in space, There you will enter and we will engage hyperdrive, shouldn't more than 50 minutes to get to Meeriad *Chuckled*, Unless you know of any fine transport ships in this system?

RE: The Waiting Game

Malcolm is perplexed.

Malcolm: You shouldn't have a hyperdrive in that Coyote. I'm not going to trust an addon hyperdrive in a dogfighter.

Something hits him. He turns off the mic again and runs a diagnostic on the hyperdrive. Ah! The hyperspace protection field still works. That out of the way, he turns the mic back on.

Malcolm: Nevermind. Fine. Let's go.

RE: The Waiting Game

Jonall disarms his weapon systems and engages the warm up procedure of the hyperdrive.
Around fifty seconds later a small rift appear in space.

Jonall: Vessel you enter first, I will follow your slipstream.

RE: The Waiting Game

Malcolm hesitates, thinking. If he guns it into the rift, he might gain a few precious seconds to make an escape, but on second thought, that would be useless, as he has no way to exit hyperspace.

Malcolm: I'm going to move slowly. You have to follow very closely or I'll be stuck in hyperspace. When we reach Meeriad, if you don't dive as soon as we exit, we'll both die. Got it?

Malcolm thinks to himself, This is ridiculous. Why am I even going along with this cockamamie plan?

RE: The Waiting Game

Jonall: Recieved.

Jonall had not that much experience with hyperspace, his childhood and teenage years was spent on Perrenor.
Working for Moon Street gave him experience in combat on the ground and even vehicle control but this was the first ship he had piloted with hyperdrive and he had his ups and downs with it.

Jonall: Vessel you will enter the rip and exit when I say so, there we will move on thrust to Meeriad.
Enter orbit and then go to a landing vector to the country of Torbald, Once landed I will expect you to vacate your vessel and move north.
I will inspect your vessel 10 minutes after your landing; if you truly have nothing of worth then after 30 minutes of you walking you can go back to the location of your ship and retrieve it.

Jonall moved his ship behind the shuttle, slowly heading for the rip.
He had no real plans of letting this man go and he did not believe he had nothing of value, everything has a price in this galaxy and if the least he could do was capture a slave for sale then so be it.

Jonall turned the mic off and started typing calculations into his computer.

Jonall: Computer when the target ship enters orbit of Meeriad I want you to calculate several targets on their vessel that will force them to crash land on Torbald.
CPU: Yes Jonall.
Jonall: Good… Hmmm I wander what he is hiding? Computer make sure you monitor that vessels communications and make me aware of any communication started by that vessel.

Jonall turns on the mic.

Jonall: and remember any communications to anyone but this vessel will end up in your ships destruction, Yeki? ((A Perrenor slang word for understand))

RE: The Waiting Game

(OOC: Would have posted earlier but I've been busy all day.)

They enter the rift and accelerate significantly, though it goes unfelt, booming through hyperspace. Scanning the ship would now be impossible for the pirate, but trying to send out a call for help would be equally impossible. Communications between the GreyWolf and the Vexxer would still be possible due to their proximity.

Malcolm turns off the microphone and gets out of the pilot's seat, stretching his legs. His heavy armor clanks as he exits the cockpit. The two orcs look rather comical, huddled together on the floor, but Malcolm shows no signs of amusement.

Malcolm: You can get up. We've entered hyperspace.
Asmod: I thought that the hyperdrive was inoperable.
Malcolm: His isn't.

Asmod nods.

Malcolm: He's taking us to Meeriad. I'm to land in Torbald and travel north. There's no telling if he knows about the two of you, so we're going to have to figure out how to get you out covertly. We've got one thing still going for us: it's a one-man vessel, therefore we're presumably only dealing with one man. We have to operate under the assumption that he's already thought of every way to safely counter any front-on attack we plan, so we'll have to come up with something else.

The orcs are put off by this, as they are tribal orcs with medieval weapons. This is not something that they are well versed in, but they are willing to try.

RE: The Waiting Game

Jonall turned off all communications to the ship, travelling through hyperspace gave him time to prepare his equipment and go through the priorities of the job in hand.
He loaded a clip in his XM15 rifle and set it to a 3 round burst.
He loaded his Saxor SA44 with an energy clip and slipped it into a holster whilst pocketing his last flash bang grenade.

Jonall did not expect this fool to give up his ship easily and wondered what would be worth more, the contents inside the vessel, the crew as slaves or the ship itself?
Jonall thought the best option would be to take the ship itself, he could have what ever contents inside and if the crew could be captured and extra bonus, but it seemed more likely that he would be returning from this journey alone.
He grinned cruelly to himself.

CPU: Jonall, 2 minutes remaining of hyperspace travel… We will be 3 minutes thrust outside Meeriad’s orbit.
Jonall: Good, as soon as we leave hyperspace computer charge up the weapons systems… There are a few friends who want me dead on that world.
CPU: Yes Jonall.
Jonall: and Computer, these coordinates I am entering are extraction points for once the job is complete, I will keep radio contact with you and expect you to pick us up when I state so… as well keep scans of the surface below once you have dropped me off, you are my eyes in the sky.
CPU: Yes Jonall.
Jonall: I want you to scan for any other vessels that head near your location once I’m dropped off, any life signs with in a 20 mile radius of that craft when it has landed and any vehicles or anomalies in that area.
CPU: Yes Jonall.

Jonall entered the three co-ordinates for the extraction and opened communications.

Jonall: Vessel we will be entering out of hyperspace, follow my instructions and you won’t be harmed.

((I will let you take us out of hyperspace))

RE: The Waiting Game

Moments later, they burst through the rift into real space, decelerating greatly. Malcolm pulls the ship sharply upward to make sure the GreyWolf doesn't rear-end them and turns toward Meeriad.

Atmospheric entry would be hairy on two engines, but he believes he can manage.

He takes this opportunity to pull up information on Meeriad on the computer, quickly finding information on Torbald, and a satellite image of the landing coordinates given to him. To his dismay, he finds that Torbald is a harsh desert country and it appeared that the closest establishment is several miles from the landing site.

A few minutes pass and, with the computer's aid, he enters the atmosphere, headed for Torbald. Proceeding safely on atmospheric propulsion, he sets auto pilot and steps out of the cockpit. Asmod looks up at him from his place on the floor.

Asmod: What is happening?

Malcolm holds up a hand to silence Asmod as he looks around the rear of the ship. Finally he steps over to his assorted equipment in the corner and pulls out a claymore mine. He hands it to Asmod.

Malcolm: When we crash, set that up facing the door. Use the tripwire.
Engell: Crash?
Malcolm: Yes.

He goes back into the cockpit. Engell turns to Asmod.

Engell: ... Crash?

Asmod shrugs.
