[GAME ON] Team Fortress 2!

If none of you people have Team Fortress 2, I'm gonna be peeved, okay?

So what is Team Fortress 2? Only the best dang multiplayer shooter this side of the nuthouse. You've got objective based maps in which you either have to capture or defend all of the controls points across the map, or capture the flag (or rather, intelligence, as instead of a flag there's a briefcase overflowing with classified papers.)

You have nine classes to choose from: Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Engineer, Medic, Sniper, and Spy. They all have different weapons and fill different roles, so there's pretty much something for every play style.

As implied by the game's name, if both teams are decent, you NEED to work together to win. This is accentuated by things like the Medic's ubercharge, where a meter fills as you heal your teammates, and when it reaches full you can activate the ubercharge which will make your healing target invincible for a short period of time. This is almost necessary for cutting through an Engineer's nest, who can build an automated sentry gun which, when fully upgraded, is armed with two miniguns and a quad rocket pod, decimating all in its path.

The art style is totally great (think Pixar movies, especially The Incredibles) and is enough to make this game worth the purchase anyway. It is a thing of beauty at full graphics settings, but even when it's not, it's still great:

It generates some great facial expressions.

The Heavy class is actually pretty photogenic.

Triumphantly lift your flamethrower atop the burning corpse of your foes!

So if any of you have it (or when you get it!) my Steam name is Terenn, so add me to your friends list, dawgs!

Hey guess what. I have it.

Heavy update next Tuesday. Six new maps, one of which is cp_steel. A new payload map that's got bigger spaces. A new game mode, and oh yeah. Heavy weapons guy weapons.

Here's an article.

edit: Woah. Did I break your tables?

superedit: This screenshot is not of a custom skin. It is of an actual scout, actually holding an actual pyro axe.

Yes, you did break MY tables. Ya jerk.

But that's not that bad because they shouldn't be tables in the first place. So they deserve it.

WOLF!

A-make me a macchiatio PRONTO! *Panther roar*

But anyway, yep. Saw on the TF2 dev blog about Heavy update's approach. Awesome.

RE: LET'S PLAY Team Fortress 2!

Guess where I get to be during the day of the Heavy update! AN 8 HOUR COLLEGE ORIENTATION YAAAY!

What's your favorite class? Is it medic? You play a lot of medic. I prefer: spy, scout, and sniper. I like these classes because they are skill based thus presenting a much better reward for you efforts. If I get angry at losing a game I will sometimes switch to either demoman or medic depending on the amount of angry I am experiencing though.

I'm most looking forward to the spy update because good lord that class is broken right now. I think his weapons should be focused on being able to escape battle, but I do not know how to implement this in any way other than a grapple gun.

Do you have a spray? I don't have a good one. I was going to have JOSHUA ISIAH STINSON draw me one of a walrus dressed up as a spy maybe. Does this sound like something people would laugh at?

OH MAN AWESOME YAAAAY!

Yes, I play a lot of Medic. People accuse Pyro of being W + left mouse = win, but Medic is far more so.

But I also like Soldier. It depends on how bad of a day I'm having. (I have a lot of bad days. That's why I have long spurts without TF2.)

And you're dang right Spy is broken. It still shocks me how a spy can wade through my entire team at his leisure and backstab me, but if I try to play Spy PFFFT FUHGEDDABOUDIT.

No spray. I'm not funny enough and it's too much of a hassle to make one.

And I think JOSHUA ISIAH STINSON would do that for you. He is an excellent guy.

RE: LET'S PLAY Team Fortress 2!

The problem with "w + Mouse 1 = win" for pyros, is that it rarely equates to win on any somewhat competent server. They get excited when they see a whole bunch of people on fire. What did they do? They got one kill and helped the other team build an uber. Medics really do need to use all of the directional buttons constantly though. It's pretty dang difficult for a spy to backstab a squirmy medic, unless he's mastered the art of quickstabs.

The trick to spy is waiting for that cool down period. When I go onto public servers I always see spies cloak and run through a bunch of grenades and minigun fire because they have ants in their pants. You gotta wait for that little opening, no matter how small. You can't wait around when you get to the other side because YOU WILL be spy checked. Your disguise is purely for getting around sentrys, and I guess so people might only get a very quick glance at you while going to get health and not yell "Spy!" You probably already know all of these things. Sorry about that, I like to talk about spy.

I have bad days everyday, but I always play an average of about 3 sessions of gameplay a day. Normally 1 of these sessions will be good, while the other two will be bad because MY TEAM, IT'S MY TEAM'S FAULT YOU GUYS ARE DUMB WHY WOULD YOU TRY TO BONESAW A SPUN-UP HEAVY WHAT ARE YOU DOING!

I don't think you play scout very much, but recently on the SA forums, there were a few "pro" scouts telling people that it's ideal to have a lower sensitivity at around 3. Also, turning off windows mouse acceleration can help you aim better as well. I've found this to be a fantastic help in letting me kill things as scout. The only problem is that I need to relearn sniper now. Speaking of sniper, look at JOSHUA ISIAH STINSON'S sniper stats. That was me. 8)

...Mouse... acceleration?

SERIOUSLY? That's stupid, and whoever created it is stupid.

You know what the worst thing about 3D RTS's is? VIEW SCROLL ACCELERATION. TERRIBLE. AWFUL. MURDER. And to try to use that in an FPS?

MAIM. DEATH. BLOOD.

Also, I know the truth about W + mouse 1. I was being facetious. Colon Oh!

The trick that seems to work for me as Scout is to pretty much just harrass the other team instead of killing them, but I don't really like to play like that so I don't really like to play Scout.

RE: LET'S PLAY Team Fortress 2!

Yeah, unbeknownst to most people, Windows actually uses tiny tiny motors inside the mouse to move it across the table easier. Turning it off makes your hand the sole motor working the mouse, and in that respect...you become God. It's what separates the good players from the great players.

Here, this is what I think of your facetiousness. Order now.

Harassing the enemy is exactly how you play scout. It's funny to halt an entire enemy push because you keep jumping over people's heads and taking little pot shots at them while they have trouble tracking you. Finally that one grenade (more probably: rocket) hits you and your engineers had enough time to rebuild. I sometimes forget that I need to flank enemies and fool them into which route I'm taking, so my kill:death ratio as scout is probably extremely low. Not much beats taking out a heavy medic combo by only using your bat though.
