Raelan Wathuru

Character Name: Raelan Wathuru

Age: 216

Gender: Male

Species: Kiefan

Description: at 6'1" he is somewhat taller than most Kiefan with the typical wiry build of his race which runs him about 150 pounds. His hair is a moderate brown, likely due to the fact that he stays out of the sun more than most Kiefan, he keeps it fairly short, and typically spiked back. He has gentle eyes, and a knowing, conspiratorial smile as if he knows your secrets, even if you don't.

He changes clothing style to fit the styles of planet he is visiting, and the job he is fulfilling there, often as a traveling mage he will dress as a mystic in that planet's fashion if often not quite as flamboyant as most people (real mages or not) of his profession. His right arm from just below the elbow is cybernetic, it has a blaster crystal built in, but no electronic components attached to it, as well as a Corman-Falee Beam Saber integrated in on the back of his arm. The control assembly is incorporated into the arm (meaning the 'on switch' is part of his arm, and consciously controlled) not necessarily a legal modification... He wears a shield crystal secured in a netting lashed to his left wrist by a leather cord, and a quartz crystal hangs from his neck in a similar netting, though it is typically under his shirt.

History: Born in one of the Kiefan towns of Fierra Mesa he lived a fairly typical life, he manifested better than average (but not extraordinary) potential for magic, but as he grew older the adults began to worry for his 'recklessness' with his magic.

He later termed it as the path of the dragon, named after a mythical creature that had roots in the history of multiple planets (lending questions to the mythical part in his mind, as all of the planets descriptions were markedly similar.) He would store up energy in his body, until it was holding all it could, and then he would create extensions to himself in what felt like wings and a tail (eventually adding a few other smaller places like draconic horns, and reptilian dinosaur like fins off of his forearms.) He would also fill these 'imaginary' vessels with energy, holding more than he should be able to safely.

He could feel these extensions as if they truly were attached to his body, but all that others could sense was him overdrawing his power. When he was 68 (after a few experiments that didn't go so well) they sadly exiled him from their town for their own safety, as they didn't understand his magic (he used different methods to 'cast' than they did) or his means. They provided him with enough food for a week, travel and survival supplies, some money, and promises that they would take him back if he would just learn the proper methods.

He left the open road the instant he was out of sight of the town, and only realized this to be a mistake when night began to come on, and he was lost in the wild lands. Using every ounce of magic he had and every trick he knew, he managed to escape the hunting animals, and barricaded himself in a shallow cave with a small entrance, rather worse for wear. When he woke the next morning he was too terrified to leave the cave, instead meditating, practicing, and experimenting with his magic until the rations he had received at exile gave out. However by that time the cave he had lived in had become home and for the next 92 years he foraged, hunted and barricaded himself in at night, sometimes making excursions to one town or another that weren't too far from his cave for supplies or companionship usually staying the night (or several days) so that he would not be caught in the open again by the planets nocturnal inhabitants.

Unfortunately he had stayed too long at one particular town (watching a pretty girl whom he never approached if you must know...) and got a somewhat later than usual start on his trip back, he would have made it in time, but he had to circle around a large herd of semi dangerous Neroulp (yes, I just made that word up) and was once again caught in the open with night approaching. He wasn't as lucky this time. While he was using his improved magic to fend off other creatures a small swarm of cortus dove in on him, tearing flesh from many parts of his body, and he watched in horror as three latched onto his right arm (which at that moment was held up in the middle of channeling (his version of 'casting')) and turned it into a bloody mess.

In panic he released the last of his energy in a concussion of force, and on adrenaline alone got back to and barricaded his cave where he used a torch he had acquired to heat his knife, and attempted in desperation to cauterize his own wounded arm, he managed to stop enough before he passed out form the pain, and exhaustion for the rest to stop on its own. Four days later, starving, and fevered from multiple infections, he dragged himself into the nearest town, where they treated him for 2 weeks before he could do more than vaguely, (and foggily) express his gratitude.

However, his right arm had had to be cut off, being that it was mostly just bone with little bits of flesh from just below the elbow down, if they hadn't it would have been unusable anyway. Swearing to pay them back he apprenticed himself to a cyberengineer from the city for 45 years, (also called a cybersmith) where he learned how to make (and got his own) cybernetic body parts. That was also where upon touching a liavorian crystal, his energy began to resonate with it, and with some experimenting he learned that he could amplify (or coalesce easier) the effects of his magic with the use of such crystals.

By the time the master cybersmith died (whom he had essentially at least matched for skill) he had long since payed back the townsfolk (and the cybersmith) he left to make his money amazing crowds with the his unusual magical abilities, and what little cybersmithing jobs could be found (mostly repairs.) He never returned to his old cave. Eventually he began experimenting with enchanting mechanical pieces, (especially cybernetic) and made his real money giving people with cybernetic limbs their sense of touch back. With the money collected from such efforts he custom built his own new (enchanted) arm out of a rare metal known to be more sensitive to magic, he later grafted in the beam sword, after learning how to use it of course, and bought himself a ship.

Item(s): beam sword built into his arm, and concealed as much as it could be to look simply like marginal craftsmanship.... one shield crystal, one blaster crystal, both for magic purposes

Ship/Vehicle:
Model: MTR-82 Spacehawk
Manufacturer: Morris Driveyards
Type: Transport
Field: Space, atmosphere
Hyperdrive: Short-range Morris Driveyards SR-PIM Drive
Life Support: Yes
Artificial Gravity: Yes
Weight Class: Light
Cargo Space (Long, Wide, Tall): 17x14x12 feet

The Morris Driveyards MTR-82 Spacehawk is a light, inexpensive cargo hauler and the main competitor of the more popular Perrenor Galactic JN316 Beast. Basically a box truck among cargo transports, it is composed of only three compartments: the cockpit, the four-bed crew quarters, and the cargo bay. It can be easily manned by one person, and, for various reasons, the Spacehawk is far less expensive than the JN316 Beast.

Despite this, the price difference is still surprisingly lopsided, as the MTR-82 is equipped with a Morris Driveyards PIM hyperdrive, full life support with separate branches for each compartment of the ship, artificial gravity, four separate external engines which double as landing gear, and airtight blast doors between the cargo bay, crew quarters, and cockpit.

The MTR-82's only armament is a single forward-facing 40mm gauss cannon.

This carries all his mechanical experiments, metals, and cybersmithing gear. He is working on enchanting it himself, and has already improved its maneuverability by eliminating clumsy 3rd party controls (steering wheels joysticks etc.) and linking it directly to his cybernetic hand (a modification he plans to start marketing soon, cybernetic hands could become the 'in' thing for pilots (and would be pilotsWink)

.......wow, who needs role playing... I just wrote an epic Smile
