The Streets of Kepp

Terrathel woke, face down on the sidewalk of a moderately busy street there was a light rain today, (convenient excuse to wear a raincloak concealing his bigger weapons). what happened? he searched his memory, he was receiving last minute programming from his 'mind', and then there was a sensory overload, orders were not completed.

He searched his programming for directions, since the orders for the assassination were not completed objective 1 became, return.  (this country, and planet seemed to be full of such job offers, probably why his 'mind' chose to live here) He struggled his way onto his feet.

(OOC: you can join here, or wait, I can expand my story for several days, one post a day, so join at whatever time you feel optimal ^-^)

RE: the streets of kep

as he made his way back to residence, he noticed his (own) mind was much less cluttered, more often than not little bits of code were floating around his programming. He then decided that the human mind directly linked was not the best way to program anything since the human mind was so confused itself.

Decided. The word made him pause mid step, he had decided something... That was new. He shook his head, there must be a malfunction, first unconsciousness, now motor control freezes, and.... He refused to register that last part consciously, and paused again refused...

Shaking his head, he looked up to gauge his distance to residence, and saw smoke, crowds were beginning to gather despite the rain, and as he turned a corner he saw residence in flames, and understood. Mind and Key are destroyed (key being what he referred to his 'mind interface device' as) I am alone.

he stared numbly at the burning blasted building, searching his memory. Many of his 'Minds' did not like free will, especially his most recent one, but buried deep in some old programming he found the adaptation clause, and purged all programming not related to useful skills. I am me

Filtering through his memory again he put together information now deemed useful, a piece of paper with a bank account number, access codes to his previous mind's ship, which he had already been taught to fly, food stores, and bomb raid shelter.... He gauged the best place to enter the burning residence, and retrieve some needed items, and began to move toward it in what to others might seem a suicidal calm.

The Streets of Kepp

In the nearby street, a sleek black limo pulled up to the scene slowly and after a moment, slowly parked across the way. The window in the back slowly rolled down, revealing a nearly ghostly white young woman who was looking at the Bio Shell with a sort of calm curiousity. Another man sat next to her, arms folded over his chest with a white business suit and black glasses. His gaze too, was focused on the Bio Shell and the burning building.

"The man is entering a burning building. How does this make you feel, Yamada?"

The young woman doesn't say anything, only folding her hands in her lap gently as she watched the scene with a distant gaze.

"He's probably not just a man though..." the white dressed man idly comments to himself.

RE: The Streets of Kepp

(Bio shells have been known to be suicidal when their Key gets destroyed and their orders force them to do something stupid)

The entrance Terrethel entered collapsed a few minutes after he had entered, as had several of the passages. He moved quickly to collect most of the things he had wanted, stuffing them into a pack, he turned a corner just as the passage in front of him cut him off by collapsing into flaming debris.

hmm makes things more difficult. He returned to the room he had just come from, there were no windows, but it was an outer wall... slinging the satyr from under his arm he noted the building itself losing stability, and fired six shots into the wall, punching through and weakening the material and support beams enough for himself to slam bodily into, and through.

He burst into the air from the second floor, in the front of the building, he had wanted the back to make less of a scene, but was out of options. He threw the satyr, and bag to reduce some of his momentum, and rolled when he hit the ground, this absorbed a lot oh the impact, but his roll wasn't perfect and he ended up on his back catching his breath.

The crowd broke up as they saw the man jump from the building, leaving plenty of breathing room for when he landed. Though like most times, several of them rushed to him to see if he was all right.

Across the street, the white suit slowly got out of the limo, shutting the door to the sidewalk and walking around the back end before crossing the empty streets. Sirens were now going off in the distance as the firemen started to come.

Slipping through the crowd, the man gently asked one of the people to move aside as he squatted down next to Terrathel and patted him lighty. "I have a preposition for you, young man, if you think you can get up and follow me to my limo." The man spoke calmly and offered a simple polite smile and even a hand to help the bio shell up.

Terrathel waved off the people crowding around him, and accepted the man's hand up studying him cautiously as he retrieved the satyr, cleaned it off a little, and settled it back underneath the katana, then picked up the bag. With that he seemed to have made a decision.

"I will hear your proposal, as long as you know I still retain full rights to refuse." He stepped to follow the man if he was still willing to lead, he had just gained his freedom, and was keen to try it out instead of surrendering it again, so he also kept track of any possible ambush connected with this man. After all he could be linked to the destruction of -the house. He stopped himself from calling it Residence. His arms were folded non threateningly (but very close to the knives up his sleeves) and he clicked the sheathes safety strap open.

"Oh, of course," the man agreed causally and lead the man to the limo. Politely he opened the door for Terrathel and let him step inside, motioning him to take a seat opposite of the ghostly white girl. At this point, Terrathel would notice the young woman staring at him with no regards of awkwardness or apparently any intention of introducing herself - simply staring at him with those distant curious eyes of hers.

The man follows and seats beside the silent young woman before shutting the door and sighing to himself as he folded his own arms in a very relaxed manner.

"I must say that was quite an impressive display, entering that building like that... and coming out nearly unscratched. I was wondering if you'd be willing to be a bodyguard for Ms. Riko here," as he glanced to the white woman. "Would that be okay with you, Ms. Riko?"

Ms. Riko looks over the to the white dressed man with what seemed like a thoughtful expression before quickly looking out of the window and to the burning building, just as the firemen arrived to put it out. "Yes," she replies in a very simple tone.

The other man smiles a little and looks to Terrathel with that same smile on his face, though it looks a bit creepy in the light of the limo's inside and his black glasses on. "So... what do you say? You'd be paid very well and Ms. Riko is very important to us. Sadly, I don't always have the time to look after her."

RE: The Streets of Kepp

Terrathel studied the girl almost as closely as she was him. Barely taking his eyes from her to glance at the other man, she had an... offness as well, but not Bio Shell offness...

"If I accept this, what kind of threat is 'Ms. Riko' in that I would have to protect her? I knew that building well, and knew what would collapse first, I had things I needed. I assume this is a full day job, and something no one would look at a Bio Shell sideways for, which is why you picked me?"

his hands stayed near the kife hilts, but seemed innocuously so, this 'girl' piqued his newfound curiosity and he didn't manage to keep that from his voice.

"Nothing less from a Bio Shell ... I suspected as much, but you're right. It'd be a full time job and no one would even give second thought to you being a bio shell at that. Of course you may keep your freedom ..." He pauses for a moment. "It's hard saying what sort of trouble will come Ms. Riko's way, but there's no doubt there will be trouble. She's usually in the compound with us, though, and it'll be much harder for anyone to get to her. You'll also have access to your own and Ms. Riko's room, which are next to each other. There will also be times when you're allowed to leave the compound or Ms. Riko in order to ... do whatever you wish," he explains.

Ms. Riko continues to watch the burning scene outside of the limo as the fires begin to die down from all the water being poured on it. She seems calm, to say the least, with her hands still folded in her lap.

RE: The Streets of Kepp

He relaxes a little it seems events were unrelated, but at the moment he did not have a job, and didn't have any memories of his last 'mind' receiving them, it was something he did on his own, Terrathel merely executed. He put his hands into his lap, further from the knife handles.

"This seems fair, but what compound? and when trouble happens what am I likely to fight, I'll need to know what kind of armaments I'll need."
