Yamada Riko

Character Name: Yamada Riko

Age: 1 year

Gender: Female

Race: Artificial Superhuman

Description: This young woman seems rather unusual, almost porcelain-colored skin and dark stormy blue eyes. She seems to stand at exactly five feet, but otherwise seems actually rather slim (though not unhealthy so). Most of her outfits also seems to be pure black, and are usually short dresses of some sort with long gloves that cover half of her biceps.

While the first glace of her is certainly, it's more of her eyes that strike one with stillness. While there seems to be some sort of emotion in this girl, it almost seems fake or distant, as if she was looking through your soul and you at the same exact time. Unnerving, at the least.

History: Lars. The small warring planet that has been having some trouble for some time now, within Kepp being crippled by the surrounding powers. A small military faction had been deployed to a mining area on the outskirts of civilization and from the other factions when a miner found something odd within the mines. As it turned out, the miner had found odd bits of ancient alien technology within the old mines and within the next couple of months, they were mined out and shipped to science labs.

As time and research went by, the scientists discovered one of the more in-tact pieces of equipment the mysterious aliens left behind was some sort of cloning device. As research always goes, they got the funding to continue this line of research in hopes they could present this as an alternative in their wars against the other nations. However, the scientists soon discovered it was not a cloning device, but rather a genetic manipulation machine, able to create creatures from only bits of DNA and modify at will.

This is where Yamada Riko comes in, as she is the first of the experiments to create an artificial superhuman. While she is alive and breathing, both the scientists, military, and her do not know the full extent of her abilities or even personality development. Though many trails have been run so far, she has extreme fast reflexes, able to dodge most single-fired gunfire if she is at least forty feet - though this takes all of her concentration to do so. She also can lift up to 110 lbs with ease, 200 lbs with strain, and 300 lbs with the maximum of her strength. Along with these tests, they've found out she can both sprint at an average of 30 miles per hour, long-run at about 20 miles per hour, and is able jump 30 feet horizontally and 8 feet vertically (12 is she is running).
• [This is mostly to get an idea of her physical prowess. I can understand if you want it toned down though, but I looked up the average for all of these and bumped it up realistically.]

They've also tested her to be above normal in intelligence, and while she is not always the best learner, she seems to have a photographic memory - so visual learning seems to be the best for this young experiment. Her emotional develop is still coming along slowly though, especially due to the military's interest in her.

Weapon(s): Expert hand-to-hand combat, advanced knowledge of weaponry (how to use all known weapons), keen senses, extreme reflexes and prowess. Only firearms when given or taken, at the moment.

Ship/Vehicle: N/A (Military provided)

RE: Yamada Riko

Well... here goes.

A pistol caliber bullet travels somewhere in the vicinity of 1200 feet per second.

If she could even dodge pistol caliber bullets, (this is to say nothing of rifle rounds, which average around 3000 feet per second) that means she has to be able to move completely out of the way in three hundredths of a second.

For comparison, the average human response time to visual stimuli is between one to two tenths of a second—and that's, of course, before the actual process of moving the body takes place.

Considering how strong she is, I suppose it's possible that if she simply hurled herself with all her strength away from the bullet's path, she could get out of the way of a slow bullet, or turn it into a grazing shot. However, when she hits the ground—or anything else that might be in the direction she just launched herself faster than a human can even register—she is very likely to badly hurt herself.

Actually, she's almost better off getting shot. Laughing

I know I'm nitpicking physics on a sci-fi/fantasy RPG, but my suspension of disbelief only goes so far. Notice to travel hundreds of times the speed of light, as we do all the time, we have to escape reality and go somewhere that it's possible to go that fast. XD In this case, you're trying to explain these incredible things simply by genetic engineering. I'm pretty sure that genetic engineering would garner her either

A. Enormous, unwieldy muscles, so she doesn't have to train eight hours a day, or
B. Better conditioning and endurance to allow her the insane training regimen required to be that strong and that fast. Which also means she would have some pretty big muscles, but not necessarily body builder-esque, if she trains right.

Her abilities may be technically possible (besides dodging bullets) but not with that body. XD

Wow... Okay. I had no idea I wrote this much. Take it as you will.

EDIT: Bottom line, we can only stretch the limits of reality so far before magic is required.

Huh, didn't know it went that fast. Oh well, then let's just go with the running speed for comparison. As for the strength and so forth, I was thinking that she was actually part alien ... I should've mentioned this eariler, heh, so that's my fault. Sorry about that. As you imagine though, I was thinking the machine actually used a lot of the alien's liquids and DNA in the process and at this point ... since she's the first, they don't know enough to realize this.

Obviously, ancient aliens would likely have different workings about them. Probably leaner, stronger muscles ... but also explains her pale completion and unusual eyes, as well as some of her intelligence.

Magic or supernatural abilities may come later (big fan of japanese ideas, such as getting strong, better, etc. as things come up - if you hadn't noticed), but I hope you agree that being at least half-alien (if not more) of some ancient race would explain her strengths realistically enough (for Sci-fi). Well, ontop of that, those trails and tests ... she does have training ontop of it - though she's a bit detached from them emotionally and mentally - from the military (though I don't have much personal experience with any of it).

Ah, being partly alien would have quite an effect, wouldn't it? Smile

Okay then, approved!

RE: Yamada Riko

the bullet dodging could be considered partial clairvoyance at that point (would make sense for the concentration.) focusing on a weak ability hard enough to make it (barely) usable. ^-^ I plan on some character progression myself parts of a human mind uploaded in death into a quasi human body, who knows what could happen!

Maybe later ... it probably is a bit too much at first in either case.
