Poems...

Magnetic poetry is awesome. I posted the one that 4 of us here on Daireem left on my fridge. It's epic, and awesome. It talks about what hell is like, I think.

These are some that I wrote a couple years ago, and finally got my hands back on. They aren't as good as the EPIC poem but they are alright... Laughing
I think they are pretty good for having limited words to work with. They are slightly more "serious" than the other one, but oh well. XD

Friends
emotion of a thousand languages
between friends
can change the world

Dreams
innocent goddess receive gentle music
sleep easy in another picture

Honor
promise me brother
to endure the inner dark
protect hope
even through weariness
trust love
doubt not the path
and remember always the truth

Alone
death was always his shadow
crying out
for the understanding
that one man
is not a universe
Stasis
Hey Claudius...
You killed my father.
Big mistake.

RE: Poems...

Well, for easy reference, we might as well re-post The Most Epic Poem in the Universe here.

The Most Epic Poem in the Universe
blackness falls about the void
chaos always whispers death
symphony of languid screams boil
sordid disease transforms journey
inspires repulsive blood
delirious cries flow from mist of eternity
bitter chant crushes beauty
drooling doctor
bad treatment
raw iron voice shot serenity
possible peace could change
to suffer knife beating
enormous woman and mother
dream about elaborate fluff

RE: Poems...

Random assorted poetry retrieved from the pile of junk I've written since early high school. I pulled out some highlights that were interesting, which makes the selection more of poetry in which I was trying to make a point, but I included some of the others.

Nightfall

barely dark
barely bright
softly glows
my fair twilight
leaving day
coming night
darkness is
my time for flight

JM (8-5-07)

To Grow     (I was.... I don't know, giddy that day...)

I want a change
a change just to change
something different just because
why don't they want a change?

but change is essential to growth
change is the essence of growth
they don't want to change....
they don't want to grow?

growth is progress
they don't want to grow?
they don't want to change
do they fear change?
but they need to grow

what can be done to force them to grow?
to make a change, make them adapt
forge them to adapt and grow
break the monotony, alter the path
they don't want to change, just continue on...

stubborn habitual humans
just change and....
grow

JM (6-8-04)

Diversity     (just made that title up now...)

why must others be like us?
we force ourselves upon them
and taunt them when they differ

we're always trying to make others
into mirrors of ourselves
but that isn't what we want
in mirrors we would see too much of ourselves

so what is it that we want?
someone to relate to?
someone we can trust?
hardly....

maybe we just feel more secure
when there's someone just like...
ourselves?

JM (6-17-04)

Anti     (written right after a Halloween poem, read cryptically)

experience silence to appreciate noise
without one what is the other?
every power has its opposite
both must be to survive

where there is no dark what is light
every good has an evil
every light a shadow
now tell me, where do the shadows lie?

JM (unknown date october prolly 04)

Shape Shifter

a being exists in the imagination of others
leeching their fear
building their fear
using their fear

one form to one, different to another
this being waits in their imagination
the fringe of their conscious
forcing their actions for fear of it

they shelter and hide
run away, rot inside
in their fear they fail
and accomplish nothing

it always comes unhindered by fear no matter what you do
how long you live, how strong you are, how quick your mind
it does not matter, death will come, and you will die

JM (some time in 2002)

will post more later maybe, getting bored typing this all out

The Oracle

I have seen it
in my mind
bloodshed, and weaponsfire
spanning generations
many eras fighting, so many
all at war

why do they fight
mistrust
why do they continue to kill
they won't learn
why do they never learn
they don't want to

to fight is easier than working together
a stubborn species
hoarding their resources, unwilling to share
so greedy
only saying what they have been told
don't want to think for themselves

they don't adapt, don't wish to change
the chaos of war...why do they never learn?

JM (9-11-03)

(yes I got the image of many bloody battlefields past present and sci-fi while bored out of my skull at a school 9-11 memorial, so I made this poem off of it, to make me sound less insane by being fascinated by the images)

think I'll post some creepier/angry poems next time...

RE: Poems...

This is probably one of my favorite poems. It's written by Viggo Mortensen, of Lord of the Rings fame, suprisingly.

Cuttings
the afterthought of chimes
filters in from next-door.
I am under the echo, not
listening so much as noticing
it from time to time as
I look over the results
of my landscaping and
weeding from a white
wicker chair.

an errant vine has sprouted
two blue flowers
where it reaches
the base of the lemon tree.
they are beautiful;
I am suspicious.
are they a diversion,
an entreaty to keep me
from cutting back the vine?
I’ll keep the flowers,
and put them in a saucer
by your bed.
~Viggo Mortensen

Then there is always Robert Frost, that guy was awesome.

Road Less Traveled
two roads diverged in a yellow wood
and sorry I could not travel both
and be one traveler, long I stood
and looked down one as far as I could
to where it bent in the undergrowth

then took the other as just as fair
and having perhaps the better claim
because it was grassy and wanted wear
though as for that, the passing there
had worn them really about the same

and both that morning equally lay
in leaves no step had trodden black
oh, I kept the first for another day!
yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back

I shall be telling this with a sigh
somewhere ages and ages hence
two roads diverged in a wood
and I took the one less traveled by
and that has made all the difference
~Robert Frost

RE: Poems...

EPIC poem - The virtual version.
So everyone can share in it's almost original form. Even fridge tan, with white magnets. Heck yeah.
