Stranded

Darkness, that was all she could see, endless darkness. A stab of pain running up her left arm ended that bliss quickly.

Tawny gasped in pain as she jolted awake, her eyes flinging themselves open, before curling in on herself and groaning as her muscles protested the movement and her eyes - even the cybernetic one, which made her positive that she was really in trouble - felt like they were slowly imploding from the sudden exposure to light.

Tawny couldnt have been sure just how long she stayed like that, but by the time she had finally worked up enough strength of will to uncurl herself and push herself up into a sitting position she was sweating - some of it may have been tears but Tawny would never admit that.

She slowly looked around, taking in an account of what was around her. Primarily she could only see the inside of her ship, but through the large gaping hole to her right she could see a brief clearing which is then followed by dense forests.

Wait... Large gaping hole?

In a flash it all came back to her, flying past Com briefly to get a view of the sun, the pirates. One of them had shot at her while she was flying next to Tecom. She went down.

"Belgium." Tawny hissed under her breath before crawling - which normally wouldnt take as much effort as it did because her ship had roughly the amount of space that a closet had - over to the hole and looking it over.

Well, this was bad. The ship could be repaired, but only if she were fortunate enough to get to a place with the technology level required.

After poking her head out of the hole and looking around to take a scan of the surrounding area - it was truly a blessing that her cybernetic eye was still fully functioning, because that was the only thing she had going for her - she pulled herself back in and slowly crawled over to the dashboard.

Her left arm had stopped throbbing, and if she grit her teeth she could manage to move it.

Tawny was pretty sure that by the time she had managed to lift her arm up, remove her glove, and set it down in the general area of where she could interface with the ship her teeth had become little more than nubs just barely poking up above her gums.

Her cybernetic hand twitched around for a while before Tawny felt a rush of disjointed information about the ship rush into her brain. Even if she had by some miracle not been injured in the crash she still would not have been able to repair her ship.

It was fortunate for her that communications were still functioning for whatever reason.

Sucking in a sharp breath as a fresh wave of pain and the brand new sensation of nausea came over her, Tawny turned on communications and sent a silent prayer to any god that would listen as she said her breathless - and occasionally punctuated by gasps of pain - plea for help.

"My name is Tawny Black." Sharp intake of breath. "I, I have crash landed on Tecom. My ship is beyond re" Low cry of pain. Her voice then became more like a growl due to her gritting her teeth again. "Beyond repair." A shaky intake of breath. "I require medical attention, and a tow service that could retrieve my ship from the planet's surface." She took in a deep breath. "If necessary I have 1500 tape that I could pay you in. But please." A sharp cry was next as her left arm suddenly started to throb worse than before. "Help."

RE: Stranded

Time passed as Tawny continued to sit at her dashboard, she wasnt just sitting there because it was comfortable, which it was, she was sitting there and wrapping her coat around her left arm in order to form a sling of some sort.

Her medical knowledge was limited, and even more so when she didnt have any supplies, but she had a basic idea of what to do when a bone was broken.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Tawny had her jacket tied on her arm in a way that she felt was satisfactory.

The dark violet of the jacket made a stark contrast against her pale skin, her pink, several-sizes-too-big tee shirt hung loosely over her torso, with the exception of her waist where her belt lay, beeping steadily as it read her heartbeat returning to normal.

With her arm kept steady, Tawny turned around to look back into her ship.

A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she caught sight of both her guns and her sword. Well, she had that going for her.

She reached up and scratched her right temple, pausing when she heard something crack as she did so.

Making a face, she pulled her hand back in front of her line of vision and let out a groan when she saw flecks of dried blood under her fingernails. She just couldnt get a break, could she?

Well, she reasoned, at least it was dried. If it had been wet then she would have had to worry. At the moment the worst she could worry about from the wound was a mild concussion.

And the creepy feeling down her face. Now that she was actually aware of the dried blood being there she could feel the streaks of it dried on her cheek, chin, and neck.

Tawny rolled her left eye before turning and crawling back to her weapons, a difficult feat when done with only one arm.

Sitting on the floor, she strapped both of her guns to her belt and slid her sword into a pocket before leaning back and closing her eyes. She was perfectly content waiting for rescue in her ship.

Of course, it seemed that the universe had other plans, because the sound of rustling in the bushes and the loud snap of what had to be a branch made her eyes whip open.

"Frag my life." Tawny muttered under her breath as she reached for a gun.

RE: Stranded

Ishkan Ma'z stood on the deck of the pirate ship 'Battle Craft', overlooking the world of Tecom. He was a new recruit, joining up only a day earler. Today was his first day serving under the Captain. Two other young lads stood beside him, also new recruits.

"Now listen up you filthy whilps." the captain started off. He was smoking a large pipe, and had one hand behind his back. "I want you to go down there, and make sure that ship had no survivors. You can consider this your initiation. Don't come back untill you've killed, or been killed. Dismissed."
The three of them saluted, and did an about-face to go down into the hargar to get suited up.

"He was quick, wasn't he?" Daniel snorted as they left the bridge. "Not much for talking."
"Well, I suppose he's had hundreds of new recruits come through. No need to get friendly with them, as they likely won't survive long." Niel replied. Ishkan had come to appreciate Niel in the very short ammount of time he had known him. He was very analytical, and always stated things with facts behind his thought process. Daniel didn't appreciate it as much.

When they all arrived in the lower hangar, the ship they were going to be using was being fueled up. It looked barely safe enough to look at, much less ride in and fly into an atmosphere. Ishkan raised an eyebrow, but kept his mouth shut.
They went over to the corner where suits and weapons were waiting for them. The suits had a fifteen minute supply of air, in case anything happened, and hardly any protection from the elements. Ishkan also doubted the weapons would be good for anything other than looking intimidating.

Within minutes, they were in the ship and proceeding with undocking and taking off. After a loud shutter that made the three of them a little nervous, they made their way down to the planet. Ishkan was piloting, with Niel doing what little navigating he could with the limited instruments.
Though they couldn't quite tell where the crashed ship had landed, they had an idea of where it could have gone, following the trejectory that they had seen it take from inside the main ship. They followed the calculations Niel had supplied, and landed in the area.

Without any supplies, it didn't take them long to diembark their ship and start their search. There was little sign of life, other than the occasional bird screaming at them, and a footprint in the mud suggesting creatures they hoped not to find.

However, they were unlucky in that aspect. After roughly twenty minutes of searching the surrounding area around their ship, Ishkan smelled a very pecular odor coming from something near by. He stopped dead in his tracks, and looked around. Niel smelled it too, and stopped next to him.
Daniel kept walking, oblivious to the other two stopping, much less the smell that lurked around them. Just as Ishkan was about to say something to him, he heard a thud, and Daniel fell backwards onto the ground with an axe embedded in his chest. It was addorned with the tribal markings of orcs.

"RUN!" Ishkan yelled while he turned and ran in the direction they had just come from. Niel was close on his heels. The sound of crashing foliage behind them made them aware that they were being followed by something large. Ishkan didn't dare turn around to see it.
Ishkan jumped over the root of a tree, and kept running. Niel attempted to, but tripped on the crest of it, and hit the dirt with a loud "oof". Ishkan didn't stop. He just kept running.
Two seconds later came the scream. The blood curtling scream-- and then silence. Ishkan never stopped running.

He didn't know how long he had been running when he finally stopped. Ten or fifteen minutes, he assumed. He drew ragged breaths and leaned against a tree, while he looked around to see any signs of still being followed. He didn't see anything.
"Thank the gods." he breathed, and took another step. Stepping right on a twig and snapping it loudly. He swore under his breath, and kept walking quitely and slowly.

Within three more steps, he saw the crashed ship laying before him. A large hole blown in the side, with loose wires hanging from several locations. He slowly pulled out the old weapon, and proceeded forward with even more caution.

RE: Stranded

Under the best of circumstances Tawny could quite accurately, though not without a bit of pride, say that she was one of the better marksmen on Menos.

But there were three problems with that boast.

One: This was not Menos.

Two: Though she usually alternated which hand she used, she generally shot better when left-handed.

Three: she was currently struggling to hold her gun much higher than waist level.

Barely daring to breath, she edged closer to the edge of the hole. Matted brown hair fell in front of her robotic eye. What she wouldnt give just to be somewhere, anywhere, where she could take a long hot bath and wash the blood and sweat from her body.

Blinking a bit more forcefully than strictly needed, she forced her attention back on the current situation and watched, her lungs aching, as a figure slowly emerged from the forest.

RE: Stranded

Ishkan Ma'z picked his way carefully through the wrecked foliage surrounding the downed ship. He knew it would be very easy to lose his footing if he wasn't careful. There were uprooted trees and a menagerie of other assorted items.

His hand gave away his nervousness as he picked his way closer to the ship. The gun was shaking, as he wasn't sure what to expect, not to mention his run in with the orcs was still leaving him feeling more than a little put out.

As he drew nearer to the ship, he was able to see inside for the first time, as the shadows had made it difficult to see from the protection of the trees. He wasn't quite sure what to think of her at first. Her skin was pale, she was covered in blood, and her hair was matted to her face. Under different circumstances, Ishkan might have thought her decent looking for a human.

"D-do you have any weapons?!" he said, startled at the shake in his own voice. He swallowed, and put more resolve into it.
"Answer me, dangit!" he said, commandingly.

RE: Stranded

(OOC: What species are you anyway, I have no way of finding out as far as I can see.)

Tawnys arm was shaking, and she had trouble keeping her breathing slow and steady, if her cybernetic eye hadnt been covered with hair she might have been able to figure out what this guy was and whether or not she could trust him. At all.

Narrowing her eyes at him, she pulled in a hissing breath and raised her right arm, trying her best to keep it from shaking like a leaf in a hurricane.

"Yup." She ground out, pressing her bound arm to her stomach, roughly around her ribs which was the farthest down that arm could reach, and leaning forward out of her ship a bit. "Now tell me who you are and why yo-"

Unfortunately, Tawny never got to finish her sentence. A wave of dizziness overtook her and she fell forward out of the ship.

RE: Stranded

(OOC: Sorry about that. I sent you an PM with some information about the species.)

Without giving it any thought, Ishkan rushed forward to catch the woman falling out of the hole in the side of the ship. He helped her slowly to the ground, and then stood back up.
"Well, uhm." he paused, scratching his head. He slowly holstered his gun once more, and then bent back over to examine the woman laying before him. He started off by taking her weapons off of her and laying them off to the side.

Ishkan was in quite a delema. He knew that his captain had ordered him to kill this woman, and then return to the pirate ship. However, he also knew that he was not likely to make it back to his ship without some help. Not to mention, he was starting to wonder if his Captain had not just sent them on a suicide run to get out of his hair.

He sat down squarely in the mud next to Tawny, thinking about what to do. He finally decided that he would help her for now, and kill her once they got back on his ship; if his captain was still waiting for him.

Nodding to himself at his new plan, he reached over and removed the matted hair from Tawny's face, cleaning her off as best he could. He then worked on taking the jacket off her arm, after seeing the blood soaking through it.

RE: Stranded

Tawny's body was sore and her eyelids were heavy. She let out a low groan as consciousness slowly pulled her into the waking world.

Pressing her shoulders into the ground, she arched her back upwards, she could feel her shirt riding up after a while, until she heard her back snap.

Lowering her back to the ground she sighed before opening her eyes, letting out a low hiss as sunlight his her cornea.

Looking to her left she saw the man from earlier - dangit, she still couldn't get a read on him, - kneeling not too far away from her.

He was holding her jacket in between his hands, her guns were next to him.

Tawny let out a rather creative swear word under her breath before turning over and using her good arm to push herself up.

RE: Stranded

Ishkan was getting ready to rip Tawny's jacket into long strips, to make it easier to tie them as bandages around her arm. It would make for a tighter knot, which would stop the bleeding better. Right as he was about to take out his knife, he heard a moan behind him. He quickly turned around, mentally preparing himself for some type of attack.

It quite surprised him when she arched her back for a long minute, letting her back pop in to place. He just stared at her, not quite sure what to do. A moment later she opened her eyes, gave out a hiss, and then looked at him. He stared at her right eye, not having seen the implant when she had talked to him before falling out of the hole.

He heard her swear quite colorfully, and decided he should stand, in case she tried to do anything.
"How are you feeling?" he asked as he got to his feet.

RE: Stranded

Tawny didn't make it much farther than pushing herself to her knees before her arm gave out and she found herself laying on her belly, glaring absently at the grass in front of her.

Rolling onto her side so she could face the man holding her jacket, the only sign that she was at all affected by  the fact that she couldn't stand up was the way her lips were pulled into a tight smirk.

She absently and without giving any thought to it brushed her hair back in front of her implant.

"Oh, you know," She said, rolling onto her back but keeping her eyes on him. "Like I have a concussion as a result of my spaceship crashing."

Her left eyebrow twitching was the only signal of any discomfort as she pulled her left hand up to her chest and held tightly to where a rather unsightly bruise was forming.

"Also." She added, her eyes locking in on her jacket in his hands. "I seem to be without my improvised splint. Explain?"
