RE: Stranded

Ishkan fired another shot at the orc coming towards him. Square in the chest. It let out a loud bellow, but it kept coming.
"Not good!" Ishkan yelled, and dove to the side as the orc plowed into the space he had just occupied. Ishkan hit his face on a jagged rock, tearing one of the large scales on his face loose.

The orc spun around and looked at the two of them. Ishkan on the ground nearest to him, and the Tawny further away, still standing. There was another orc focusing on her. The orc used her distraction to get to Ishkan.

The orc stepped up quietly as Ishkan still lay on the ground. He leaned over and picked up the body that lay before him, intending to cleanly break his neck.
The blade in Ishkan's hand quickly flashed, and dove deeply into the orc's throat. The air escaped through the cut as he dropped to the ground dying. Ishkan stood, and fired at the next orc making his way towards them.

"Even less of a chance if we try to make it together." Ishkan finished.

RE: Stranded

"Oh, I don't know." Tawny said, firing at the orc. "I mean, it was just these two, right? And you all ready have that one down."

She knew what he was implying, and whether he meant for her to run or be the distraction, she didn't care. She didn't like people dying when there was a chance they didn't have to.

RE: Stranded

"These two and the two over there." he said nonchalantly, getting his barings again. The closest orc was still sizing them up. It had seen its fellow tribemate fall, which gave it pause.

The other two orcs followed in behind the one that was standing there watching them. Ishkan slowly reached down and took Tawny's hand, leading her towards the ship while she kept an eye on the four orcs.

It didn't take long for the first one to attack once its two mates were there to back it up. Another one joined it, attacking two at a time, in rounds.

RE: Stranded

Ishkan was the only one firing back at the orcs as they ran for the ship, Tawny was too busy clutching his hand for dear life as they scrambled across the terrain.

Tawny made the mistake of glancing back at the horrifyingly disgusting creatures behind them and grimaced, she was certain that that image would haunt her nightmares for years to come, before turning back to the front.

They were so close. Just a little bit farther...

RE: Stranded

Another one of the orcs fell, but there were still two more. They were now spreading out, making it harder to just aim into the middle of them and shoot, hoping to hit something.

     10 meters

There was a whistle, as an arrow struck the ground right next to them. An orc was standing on a small knoll not too far away, readying another arrow.
     "Not good." Ishkan repeated.

     5 meters

Another whistles, this arrow slicing like a hot knife into butter, as it plunged into Ishkan's leg. Without meaning to, he put all his weight onto Tawny, and fell forward slightly. The two orcs behind them started closing in.

3 meters - Inches from the ramp.

RE: Stranded

Tawny stumbled at the sudden addition of weight but grit her teeth and pulled Ishkan up, wrapping an arm around his waist. It wasn't easy to do with only one arm, but she was being fueled purely on adrenaline and desire to live by that point.

"Keep firing at them, 'kan." Tawny muttered through grit teeth as she helped him towards the ship. "We've made it too far for it to end now."

RE: Stranded

Ishkan regained his balance, but still leaned heavily on Tawny for support. They made it up the ramp, and into the hull of the ship. The orcs trailing close behind them.

As they passed by the first hull brace, Ishkan hit the large red button on it. The ramp started raising ever so slowly. One of the orcs gave a fierce roar, and threw an axe into the ship. It glanced off the steel on the wall behind them and landed on the floor.

The ramp was halfway up by the time the orcs reached it. One of them jumped up and grabbed the ledge, hauling himself inside. He was met with blaster fire, and quickly fell. Luckily the others stayed outside. The ping of arrows bouncing off the hull echoed inside.

Ishkan stumbled to the forward cabin, slumped into the piolot seat, and turned on the power. It whined as the engines came to life. Systems ever so slowly coming online.

A large thump came from the back, signified the other orcs hadn't given up yet. They were banging and trying their hardest to get inside.

After what seemed like ages, the green light on the console came on. Ishkan slammed the throttle forward, causing the ship to lurch. The loud roar of the engines drowning out all other sound that was being inflicted upon the ship.

After a lot of creaking and growning, the ship finally made it above the trees, and took off into the atmosphere. They were home safe-- At least Ishkan was. He began to hope for Tawny's sake that the pirates weren't still around.

RE: Stranded

Tawny had stood by while Ishkan got the ship to work, close enough to help him if something went wrong, but far enough away so that she wasn't bothering him, what could she do besides that.

She winced at the banging sound as it continued for a few more seconds before being abruptly cut off when the ship lurched, causing her to fall to the floor, barely catching herself before it hurt.

Turning over so that she was lying on her back, Tawny stared at the ceiling. A large part of her scarcely dared to believe that this had happened, that it was all some hallucination she was having while slowly dying in her crashed ship.

The other part of her, which by coincidence was the louder part of her, simply told that part of her to shut up.

Tawny let out a few seconds of laughter before pushing herself back into a sitting position. Their bags lay next to Ishkan's seat and the Zap'ana was giving her a weird look.

"What?" Tawny asked, scratching the back of her head. "I'm happy that we're alive."

She paused before looking around the ship. "So where's the ship you're with anyway? Because there's no way this thing is being used for travel from place to place if it's a long distance."

She paused, thinking. "Although, if it is, I commend your bravery but condemn your stupidity."

RE: Stranded

Ishkan didn't answer at first. The scanners didn't pick up any signs of any other ships in the surrounding area. Either the pirate ship had left, or it was cloaked at the moment. A quick visual scan didn't bring anything up either.

After a moment, Ishkan noticed the small yellow light on the control pannel indicating that there was a new message stored on internal relay device. Ishkan knew it had to be from the pirate ship, and was reluctant to play it with Twany able to hear it.

"To answer your question..." Ishkan said after the long silence, "It looks like my ship has left us here. Which, depending on how you look at it, might be a good thing." There was another short pause.
"I was on the pirate ship that shot you down." his head hung low, and his shoulders stooped slightly.

RE: Stranded

Tawny froze when she heard that, her mind stopped and her pulse thumped rapidly in her ears.

Ishkan was a... Then why had he been on the planet?

The answer became clear to her almost as soon as she asked the question. He had been there to kill her, but something had gone wrong and then he needed her to survive.

Rage burned deep within Tawny's mind, and the next thing she knew she was next to Ishkan, punching him with her good arm while shouting out obscenities.

"You fragging blighter!" She shouted. "I can't believe I trusted you!" She punched him hard enough that her hand started to ache. "I can't believe I didn't just leave you there to die!"

Eventually her punches slowed to a stop and Tawny sank back into a nearby chair, taking in a shuddering breath.

"So, what?" She asked, looking at Ishkan with a fire in her eye. "You were there to kill me? Well, bloody good job on that one bub." She let out a bitter laugh before turning to look out the window. "Bloody good job."
