RE: Stranded

After using the bathroom, they went to the medical bay. It was fairly primitive, enough for small burns, broken bones, and lascerations. Ishkan was a little surprised, with it being a mining facility. He figured one of the other bases near-by was probably a full blown medical facility.

After the both of them were taken care of, they headed for the 'garage'. Again, it wasn't entirely impressive. It was more of a repair area for mining equipment, but it was better than nothing.

"Hello." Ishkan said to one of the mechanics there, as they walked up. The orc standing in front of them had on a pair of overalls, and was covered in grease from head to foot. He had a pair of dark goggles on, and heavy leather gloves.
The orc just grunted in return, and raised an eyebrow. Ishkan could only wonder if this orc had come from the moon they had just left.

"Yes, I was wondering... Do you have any ships for sale? Even a small two seater or anything. Or if not, could you look at my current ship and make it more suited for flying long distances?"
The orc turned back to the massive drill he was currently working on, and talked over his shoulder to them.
"Well, I am unsure of any ship for sale. You would have to talk to the master about that. He's the only one that deals with the trading of large and expensive things. I could probably take a look at the ship and see what I can do though." the orc replied.
"The master? You're not a slave are you?" Ishkan asked him. The orc didn't reply.

RE: Stranded

Tawny glanced at Ishkan briefly before looking back to the orc.

"And where can we find this 'master'?" She asked before glancing at the drill and looking it over. "And it looks like there's some faulty wiring towards the controls on that," Seeing the orc give her a dark look she held up a hand as a sign of peace and rolled her eye. "Forget I said anything about the drill. It's just a force of habit."

The orc narrowed its eyes at her, sizing her up, before giving them directions to the Master.

RE: Stranded

"Well, ou probably talked to him when you first landed. He usually greets all new comers to the ship, and enters their information." the orc said, working on the wires that Tawny had pointed out.
"What he does with that information, I can only guess. I think it might be some sort of background check to see if you'd make a 'worker'. I really am unsure." the orc continued.

"How has no one ever heard of this before? I mean, this station is at least somewhat known for being open and friendly to outsiders." Ishkan asked.
"Well, no one really talks about it. In fact, I am probably going to be severly punished for saying as much as I have." the orc sighed.

Ishkan stood for a minute, unsure of what to do or say. Finally after his short pause, he turned back to the orc.
"How many of you are there?"

RE: Stranded

The orc clammed up and turned away, Tawny was about to press him for information, and it looked to her that Ishkan might have been too, when she heard footsteps.

She turned and looked towards where they were coming from, the man from earlier, the 'Master', was walking towards them.

His face was stone cold, Tawny felt a chill run up her spine. She unconsciously took a step away from him and fell next to Ishkan. He suddenly seemed a lot more intimidating than when they had first met him.

RE: Stranded

"Pardon me for a moment." The Master said, looking at Ishkan and Tawny. "Gru'lak, may I speak to you for a moment?" he asked the orc standing behind them.
The orc glanced at them, as he stepped forward. He gave them an odd look that Ishkan could only guess was an "I told you..." type of look. A look of impending doom, but defiant.

The two of them stepped outside the door, and it shut behind them. The lock indicator light hadn't turned red, meaning they hadn't been locked in, but Ishkan didn't like the thoughts of what was going on on the other side of that door. He moved closer over to the door, trying to hear anything that was being said on the other side. However, the door was too well sealed.

A minute later the door opened again, and they both stepped back inside. The orc went back to working on the drill without another word. The master motioned them to walk outside with him. They followed, not intending to put this guy in a foul mood.

"I appologize for the interuption. I must ask that you prepair yourselves to leave as soon as possible. Your background check did not come back clean enough to allow you to stay here, Mr. Ishkan. I must request that you get any repairs that you need done, fuel up, and then leave imediately." The master said.
Ishkan was taken back by surprise slightly. He was unaware of anything in his past that would make him come back as flagged in a background check. He figured it must just be something to do with his species and last name.
"Understood." was all he could manage to get out. He was curious as to what would happen to the orc, and wanted to ask more questions about the slaving that was apparently taking place, but he didn't dare breach the subject, in case it put them in danger.

Ishkan turned and made back for the small garage, and opened the door, holding it open for Tawny to go through.

RE: Stranded

Normally Tawny would have given anyone who did something like that, holding open a door, a dirty look. But she just walked quickly through and waited for Ishkan to come in before shuddering.

"Okay, I cannot be the only one freaked out by that guy. He's like the guys back on M-" Tawny cut herself off, shaking her head. "He's creepy!" She hissed, moving closer to Ishkan as they started walking.

"And I think he's got some sort of jamming software, I've had a headache ever since we got on board, at first I chalked it up to the concussion, but now I'm not so sure." Tawny rubbed her temple as she said this.

"And what was that about your background check coming back bad? I mean, for me I c-" Tawny cut herself off again, slapping a hand over her mouth. "Right, pirate. And my past exploits most likely never made it on record anyway."

She looked around. "Honestly, let's just make our repairs and get out of here. I can probably fix the ship up enough to get us to a space station or something."

RE: Stranded

"Right, pirate. And my past exploits most likely never made it on record anyway" Tawny had said. He cringed a little at the reminder of his short experience as a pirate. He more figured he had been flagged because of his father.

"Honestly, let's just make our repairs and get out of here. I can probably fix the ship up enough to get us to a space station or something." Tawny said, while looking around. Ishkan nodded his head in agreement, and headed back for the ship.

"I feel somewhat bad, leaving the people here, knowing that there is slavery going on, but I don't know what we can do about it." Ishkan sighed, walking back into the hangar.

"Well, I know my way around repairing well enough, but I think you know more about it than I do. I'll try to stay out of your way. If you need anything, let me know." Ishkan paused, looking the ship over. Overall, it wasn't in too bad of shape, but it looked like it had been in more than its fair share of scraps. Pockmarks littered the surface, and it was blackened in several locations. Putting patches on some surfaces, and fixing some faulty wiring would probably get them somewhere safe. At least safe enough to not worry about slavery.

RE: Stranded

Tawny pointed to the damaged parts of the hull. "I'll take care of the wiring and such, you see what you can do about that. We don't need this thing breaking apart when we take off."

Without another word, Tawny slid into the ship and looked around before making her way to the control panel.

With a familiar ease, there was something homey about the underbelly of a vehicle, she slid under it and removed the paneling separating her from the hardware.

Upon seeing the mess it was in, Tawny let out an amazed whistle. She was surprised that the ship had even managed to get them to the station without collapsing in on itself.

She reached her hands up to start work before jolting back when a spark hit her right hand.

Cursing her stupidity, Tawny slid out from under the panel and, hiding her hand, went out to ask Ishkan if there were any gloves, preferably leather, inside the ship that she could use.

RE: Stranded

"Actually, I am not completely sure. You've spent almost as much time in that ship as I have. I didn't look around much before we landed." Ishkan said, shrugging. He turned back around and looked over the part of the hull that Tawny had set him to work on. He wasn't really sure what he could do with it, without tools to work on it.
He turned and looked around on the walls, for any sign of tools to work on ships. He didn't see anything at first in the poor red lighting, put as he was about to turn back to the ship, he saw a small compartment that was closed.

He made his way over to it, and opened it. There wasn't much in there in the lines of tools, but luckily there was a blow torch. He grabbed it and the flint, hoping there was some fuel in it. It felt heavy enough to suggest that there was.

He set the torch and flint down on the ground over by where he had to make the fix, and walked into the ship to look for some metal to use as a patch.
"Find any gloves?" Ishkan asked Tawny as he walked inside. There was a small metal bench that doubled as a storage box, with a torn up cushion glued to it.
He took his knife to the cushion, running it along the metal and separating the cushion from it. The hinges that held the top on were fairly easy to break, so Ishkan did just that, and headed back out to weld it onto the ship. It'd be tacky, but it would get the job done.

RE: Stranded

Tawny absently waved her right hand out at him, now covered by a glove of surprisingly good quality considering what everything else in the ship was like.

Her left hand was still bare, most would be surprised at how hard it was to do any damage to a well-maintained mechanical hand. She reconnected wires using some her left thumb and forefinger as makeshift pliers.

After a while, Tawny managed to make sense of most of what was going on in the control panel. It wasn't nearly as complex as some of the ships she'd worked on previously, but the huge mess that it was along with not being able to use her eye presented its own problems.

Tawny slid the paneling back over the wires before pushing herself out from under, sliding the other glove back on.

Wiping her brow, she walked back out of the ship.

"Hey Ish!" She called ahead of her. "I'm pretty much done in here, how's it going on your end?"
